Founder's Message

Greetings,

It is with deep metta and compassion that I welcome you to the Buddhist Peace Schools. Our journey began with a simple yet profound aspiration: to cultivate the seeds of peace, wisdom, and harmony within the hearts and minds of our young learners.

In a world often marked by division, strife, and restlessness, we have envisioned these schools as sanctuaries of tranquility and understanding. Our goal is to create an educational haven where the wisdom of Buddhism intertwines with modern learning, nurturing not only intellectual growth but also the deep roots of compassion and mindfulness.

At the core of our vision lies the belief that every child is a radiant potential, a being capable of fostering a more compassionate and peaceful world. Guided by the teachings of the Buddha, we are committed to shaping an environment where children learn not only from textbooks but also from the gentle whispers of nature, the rhythm of meditation, and the profound stories of human kindness.

Our schools aspire to be spaces where each child learns not only the ABCs of academia but also the ABCs of life: Attention, Benevolence, and Connection. We seek to instill in our students a staunch commitment to non-violence, respect for all life forms, and a deep sense of responsibility for the world they will one day shape.

In pursuing this mission, we are guided by a set of principles that serve as our North Star:

Vision

Our vision is “Peace for All”—to nurture compassionate and mindful individuals who radiate peace wherever they go. We aim to empower our students to embrace diversity, recognize the interdependence of all life, and contribute to the global tapestry of harmony and understanding.

Mission

Our mission is to bring forth knowledge and wisdom by training the heart, hands, head, and promote the health and happiness of our learners. We o this by way of providing a holistic and balanced education that harmoniously blends Buddhist and African values with modern pedagogy. We strive to create an environment that encourages inquiry, fosters empathy, and celebrates creativity. Through a curriculum that weaves ethics, mindfulness, and social responsibility, we aim to equip our students with the tools they need to be agents of positive change.

As we embark on this journey together, let us remember that education is not merely the filling of a vessel but the kindling of a flame. May the flame of wisdom and compassion burn brightly within each child, illuminating their path and inspiring them to be beacons of peace in a world that is so hungry for it.

With gratitude,

Bhante Buddharakkhita
